Building Projects Across GJPS
The Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Operations Department has been hard at work this year on improvement projects that touch each of our buildings around the District, with several more projects still to come.
The team has led the charge on several large-scale construction projects, highlighted by the opening of the new Gahanna Lincoln High School in January. For fall 2026, the first floor of Clark Hall will be transformed to house all of our preschool classes, including those currently located at Goshen Elementary. This summer, the GJPS central office will relocate to the second and third floors of Clark Hall. Additionally, Middle School South is receiving an addition of four new classrooms and a new gymnasium and locker rooms will be added on to Middle School West. Both of those projects will be completed to open for the 2027-28 school year.
In addition to the major renovations and additions, every building is receiving some form of operational improvement this year. A majority of these projects are funded by permanent improvement dollars and will help keep our buildings running efficiently. Some of these projects have already been completed, while others are still in the planning phase.
Blacklick, Goshen Lane, Royal Manor and Middle School West are all receiving boilers this year and chillers are being replaced for Jefferson and Middle School East, with both units being repurposed from the old GLHS. These units still had usable life remaining and repurposing them on other buildings in our District has resulted in significant cost savings. Middle School West is also receiving a full roof replacement, which will take two summers to complete.
All buildings are equipped with carbon monoxide detection systems integrated into a central network for continuous monitoring and instant alerting. Additionally, we are enhancing the grounds with fresh mulch throughout the spring and summer months.
The athletics department is seeing several upgrades this year, highlighted by bleacher repairs across several venues and an additional set of bleachers at Middle School West. One baseball diamond and one softball diamond at Middle School West have been renovated and are now ready for home games. Our transportation and technology teams are also continuing to stay up to date with their purchases, including new batches of Chromebooks and two new buses.
